A. State Route 146 to Smethport 9.5 miles Class Grad Size
(Area/Volume) Scene/Pol Level C-I 7/10 Tiny B/A Streamside Topographic Maps: Crosby,
Smethport County Maps: McKean Description: This is fast flowing water for the most part, with many bends on which you must watch for strainers. This is wooded bottom land with scattered views of houses and other buildings. There is some farm and pastoral scenery, however the stream is channelized through Smethport. [Reported 1999] Difficulties: Fallen trees are mostly washed aside, but be on the look out for them. Shuttle: To get to the put-in take State Route 46 north from Emporium for about 17 miles, or south from Smethport about 8 miles, and turn west on State Route 146. The put‑in is on State Route 146 just off of State Route 46 near Colegrove. To reach the take‑out, go north on State Route 46 to Smethport. The take‑out is at the bridge in Smethport. Alternately, one could extend the trip by 6.0 miles by putting in on the East Branch of Potato Creek where it crosses State Route 46 at Norwich upstream of Colegrove. Gauge: Check the level at the State Route 146 put‑in. If this is passable, then this section will be okay. Normal Wet Period: No available statistics on seasons. Since this section is tiny, it should normally be runnable only after a heavy rain or during spring snowmelt. B. Smethport to Allegheny River 12.4 miles Class Grad Size

This take‑out is 1.0 miles downstream on the Allegheny from the mouth of Potato Creek, since there are no roads at the mouth. Gauge: Check the water downstream of the put‑in bridge. If it is passable there, this section will be okay. Normal Wet Period: No
